 Katie Birch

I am a parent of two small boys (2 and 5 years).  I am passionate about health, physical activity and education, and also having fun with children and helping them grow, learn and develop.  I also realise that we are all busy and find it hard sometimes to do everything we want to do.

I am born and bred in Canberra and married to a New Zealander (exciting times during rugby season!) and together we chose Canberra to settle in and raise our family.  It is therefore important to me as a parent and educator that Mums and Dads can use this site to have fun with their kids in Canberra.  With this in mind I have prepared some fun and yummy recipes to try and ideas for keeping active.  Other topics and interest points will be developed over time, such as nutritional information, tips to get organised and fun things to do on the weekends.

My interests guided my qualifications which are in nutrition, public health and education.
Through this site I hope that I can help Mums, Dads, carers and kids out there to have fun with food and physical activity.   I also hope that I can help you to keep healthy and to enjoy life and each other.  And trust me this doesn’t mean that you can’t have “unhealthy” food - maybe just not all the time!
I hope that you enjoy reading, doing and trying the things on this site as much as Kate and I enjoyed putting them there.

I also consult on public health, nutrition and physical activity and education on a part time basis. My business is called Health-Ed and provides advice, research and evaluation services for Government and non-Government agencies and Consumers.  You can contact me at Health-ed@grapevine.net.au.
