The ACT Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services has responsibility for a wide range of human services functions in the ACT. We deliver programs and services for the areas of children, youth and family support, disability and therapy, including management of our Child and Family Centres in Gungahlin and Tuggeranong. We also manage the ACT Government's role in multicultural and community affairs, public and community housing services, Concessions Programs, homelessness and community services.
Child and Family Centres Child and Family Centres are part of the Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services. They offer a range of free services for children and families in Gungahlin and Tuggeranong. The Centres focus on early intervention and prevention in the early years of life and can assist parents with information, support and services for the family. Teams comprising of professionals with expertise in working with children and their families including: social workers, psychologists, early childhood educators, speech pathologists, maternal and child health nurses are available. One on one support programs for families and group programs are offered aiming at building stronger Canberra communities.
