Belconnen Markets – oh so fresh!

Shopping at the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets is an enticing experience. As Canberra’s leading epicurean fresh food market, Belconnen Markets is filled with only the freshest of Australia’s natural, organic and quality produce. Our 29 speciality stores offer a range of delights for all.

Towering above a terrific adventure playground is a giant yellow, pink and blue mushroom, a Sunsmart initiative of the Belconnen Markets, supported by the ACT Cancer Society. Our giant mushroom playground is six metres tall with a diameter of 15.6 metres covering a total area of 190 square metres, providing shade and cover from the rain so your kids can play all year around. There are benches for parents inside the playground, as well as public toilets and baby change rooms just next door. 

You will love the atmosphere of the marketplace with lively spruikers, and the simplicity of fresh raw materials for you to create your own gourmet masterpiece at home for your family and friends. Why not purchase some tasty fresh prawns from FishCo Downunder or baby octopus to throw on the BBQ? Perhaps you’re feeling adventurous and would like to try some exotic Australian meats like crocodile and emu from Eco Meats, the organic butchers. 

If you’re not in the mood for cooking, you can relax and let the markets take care of it. You and your family will enjoy dining at our many sit-down and takeaway restaurants, offering a compilation of cuisines and unique flavours.

Beppe’s Tuscan Kitchen is well known for delicious coffees and tasty pastas, but their speciality is their irresistible gelato. Come in and taste one, two or even three scoops of their twenty-four flavours of gelato, imported all the way from Italy.

Fins Seafood licensed restaurant is located right next to the mushroom playground. This is a great opportunity for parents to situate themselves on one of the outside tables overlooking the playground, allowing you to supervise the kids whilst enjoying a glass of wine and a dozen oysters. Kids-sized fish and chips are also available, as well as tantalising fresh seafood platters for the whole family to enjoy.  

There is often free weekend entertainment for you in our Piazza Area. The specially sprung wooden stage in our Piazza is ideal for dancers and artistic performers. Come and see a variety of performers including tap dancers, local Canberra choirs, belly dancers, salsa and Latino dancers, clogging, colonial bush dancers and poetry recitals.

Our cooking school, Cooking Co-ordinates offers an extensive range of cookware products and also runs a variety of school holiday classes just for kids. The Belconnen Markets are a fun and friendly marketplace for everyone to enjoy. The Markets are open from 8.00am to 6.00pm Wednesday to Sunday with some stores open 7 days.
